Gaelen
Gaelen Gibson is a Registered Massage Therapist and a self-professed geek. She graduated in 1995 she has continued to study different techniques and anatomy based courses as well as energetic modalities. The pathway she follows grew from a belief that the body must be treated as a whole and although you have a future goal you must deal with what is presented with today. In the past she worked almost exclusively with deep tissue techniques but found that although it worked for some people, she gets better and longer lasting results using techniques that encourage the body’s innate healing process rather than ‘forcing’ body to submit.
She has extensive experience with pelvic issues arising from chronic and acute injuries including sacral-iliac (SI) joint problems, torsion's of the pelvis, fall-out from childbirth both traumatic and non-traumatic and the chronic pain that can link up to these initial insults.
Following SI joint restrictions can be low back pain, adaptive scoliosis, neck pain, chronic headaches and even temporal-mandibular joint (TMJ) issues. If the pelvis or the ‘bridge deck’ isn’t right, nothing that follows can be right, this includes the spinal column, ribs and head. “The body is a lovely and complicated organism, insults can travel up or down the kinetic chain of the spine”.
As well, she is using Visceral Manipulation (developed by J.P. Barral) to help with post child birth issues like bladder incontinence or digestive issues from long ago trauma or chronic stress like irritable bowel syndrome. She has experience working with prostate restrictions.
ALL work is done externally and in compliance with the client wishes, she is thoughtful, sensitive and finds humor can play a part in the healing process.
